Dubia cockroaches cannot jump and run away, nor are they particularly fast if you drop one on the floor when feeding. They also cannot climb up from smooth surfaces, and are therefore quite easy to store. Dubia cockroaches do not make noise or sing, unlike crickets, which you can simply get a squeak from walking if they are adults. Dubia cockroaches do not bite, they have no defense that can harm you or the animals that will eat the cockroach. Dubia cockroaches do not smell, you can actually have quite a few walking without the major odor nuisance, at least compared to many other types of feeder insects. Dubia cockroaches live for a very long time, most feeder insects have a very limited shelf life, and rarely live very long, it is expensive and a shame to throw away a lot of money.
